Cornish Magic in Printmaking

Magical Printmaking in Cornwall

It’s taking me a while readjusting to Cambridge. Having spent time working in Newlyn and St Ives I realise just how creatively liberating Cornwall is for me – I think it must be something to do with my love of the sea as well as being in a community of so many incredibly varied artists.

My recent visit was primarily to work on my printmaking and, under the guidance of Naomi Frears at the Newlyn School of Art, I found myself working in an instinctive and immediate way that produced prints which, working on my own, I don’t think would have appeared quite so quickly – nothing like a deadline for focusing the muse!

This beautiful, brutal, rugged, peaceful part of the world never fails to weave a special magic into my work and I’m extremely pleased with what resulted in my latest visit.  A selection of these prints will be exhibited in my forthcoming solo show (details to follow soon)
